Kathmandu, Jan. 1: Minister for Information and Communications, Madhav Prasad Poudel, has said the government has been eager enough to hand over the leadership to the people’s representatives.
Speaking a programme organized by the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), here on Wednesday, Minister Poudel said the present government formed in a special circumstances successfully held the Constituent Assembly election on November 19. So, the government was ready enough to handover leadership to the people’s representatives.
He informed that the government was launching various welfare schemes to the journalists as insurance of half million rupees, welfare fund for conflict-hit ones and initiative to manage online media.
FNJ Chairman Shiva Gaunle said the media persons need to be responsible towards the people and country disseminating factual information.
Similarly, Vice-Chairperson Yeshoda Timalsina and Mahedra Bista said most of the media houses in Nepal were exploiting media persons in terms of payment. Only 35 percent media persons were getting minimum wage fixed by the wage fixation committee, they added. RSS
