Bara, Jan.1: A truck entrepreneur of Jeetpur, Bara, who was critically injured in a gunshot by an unidentified gang, has died in course of treatment.
He is Aftab Ansari, 35, of Jeetpur-3. The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon while Ansari was enjoying sunbath on a chair in front of an under construction building at Jeetpur Bhawanipur-3 along the Birgunj Pathlaiya Industrial Corridor, according to the District Police Office, Bara.
The incident site lies some 50 meter south from the Area Police Office. He breathed his last at the Birgunj-based National Medical College.
The same gang opened fire at two police personnel today, leaving them injured. They are Police Assistant Inspector Matrika Thakur and policeman Shesh Madan, Deputy Superintendent of Police Nawaraj Adhikari said. ASI Thakur, who has sustained two bullet injuries to his wrist and hand, was rushed to the capital for treatment whereas Madan is undergoing treatment in Birgunj.
Of two Indian nationals coming on a motorcycle bearing an Indian number plate (BR 06 C 3517), pillion rider opened fire at Ansari straightly on his head. The gang attacked police personnel when they encountered with the latter at Inarwa of Siraha. Police have seized two pistols and 16 rounds of bullets from those arrested. Following the incident, relatives of Ansari and locals obstructed the Pathlaiya Birgunj Road Section for around three hours. The motive behind the attack is yet to be confirmed. Ansari had returned home from foreign employment few months ago. He is survived by two daughters and a son.
Police, however, have been successful in arresting shooters Ravi Pandey from Jaunpur and Bipin Yadav from Lakhnau, India.
